Discover Uttar Pradesh on National Tourism Day, 25th January 2025, at the Shilp Gram, Lucknow. This engaging initiative, powered by The Times of India Group’s expertise in events and outreach, aims to celebrate and promote the rich cultural and historical tapestry of Uttar Pradesh.

Event Concept

The quiz contest will serve as an interactive platform to educate and engage students while spotlighting Uttar Pradesh's tourism appeal and heritage.

Quiz Focus Areas:

  • History of Uttar Pradesh: Major events, milestones, and contributions shaping UP’s legacy.
  • Touristic Sites and Places: Famous landmarks, temples, heritage sites, and hidden gems.
  • Environment – Flora and Fauna: UP’s biodiversity, wildlife sanctuaries, and unique ecosystems.
  • Physical Geography: Rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, and Ghaghra, lakes, waterfalls, and landscapes.
  • Language and Literature: Celebrating Awadhi, Braj, Bhojpuri, and Hindi, along with iconic literary works and authors.
  • Faith-Based Culture: Pilgrimage sites, Maha Kumbh, and religious diversity.
  • Music, Theatre, and Performing Arts: Classical and folk traditions like Kathak, Nautanki, and Thumri.
  • Art, Painting, and Sculpture: Miniature paintings, terracotta art, and traditional craftsmanship.
  • Cuisine – Food and Drink: Iconic dishes such as kebabs, sweets (petha, peda), and beverages.
  • GI-Tagged Products: Chikankari embroidery, Banarasi silk, Zardozi, and more.
  • Institutions and Museums: Cultural institutions, archaeological sites, and museums preserving UP’s heritage.
  • Great Personalities from UP: Eminent leaders, freedom fighters, artists, and visionaries.
  • Languages of the Quiz: The quiz will be conducted in English and Hindi, ensuring maximum inclusivity and reach.

  • Pre-Event Promotion

    • Online Registration: Pre-registration through Google Form for teams of three students

  • On the Day of the Event

    • Preliminary Round: Written quiz with 20 questions covering diverse themes.
    • Stage Finals: A 75-90-minute interactive session with the top six teams.

Quizmaster - Mr. Kunal Savarkar

Quizmaster’s profile

Kunal Savarkar is an architect, author and quizmaster. He was Content Editor for the TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. He has conducted quizzes at hundreds of leading schools, colleges and corporates across India. This includes quizzes for CBSE and INTACH on Indian heritage, the Battle of Minds Army Quiz, the Sweden Quiz and the IndianOil Science Quiz. Co-founder of India’s largest quizzing company- Xpress Minds Edutainment- which has conducted over 3,500 quizzes in 150+ cities in India. Kunal is passionate about quizzing and creating networks of quizzers and quizmasters and believes learning should be fun! He is a follower of cricket statistics, a voracious reader, and an avid philatelist. Above all else he is devoted to knowing more about the world, especially our motherland!
